Palestinians injured as settlers storm Joseph Tomb in Nablus

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Ramallah, Oct.11 (Petra)-- A number of Palestinians early Wednesday were injured and suffered suffocation in clashes with Israeli occupation forces as hundreds of extremist settlers stormed what they claim to be "Joseph Tomb" east of Nablus city .

The Palestinian official in charge of the settlement file in the northern part of the West Bank, Ghassan Daglas, said in a statement that more than 30 buses carrying Israeli settlers entered the area under the protection of Israeli troops to perform their Talmudic rituals to celebrate Jewish holidays.

Daglas added that three Palestinian youths at least were wounded by rubber bullets, while several others suffered suffocation due to inhaling tear gas canisters fired by the occupation soldiers against them, noting that a number of the injured were taken to nearby hospitals.

Israeli soldiers raided a number of houses and positioned on rooftops surrounding the tomb to pave the way for the settlers to enter the area, he confirmed.
