UAE- Sharjah ring road to be partially closed for 4 months

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Motorists who use the Sharjah ring road at the industrial area 17 need to be prepared for further traffic congestion in the area, as the arterial road will be partially closed for four months.

The Ministry of Infrastructure Development has decided to partially close the road for completing development works, according to a senior official.

Ahmed Al Hammadi, manager of roads department at the ministry, on Wednesday morning said the road will be closed from October 15 to February 15, 2018.

"However, the ministry has added more space at the junction to boost traffic flow during the closure period."

Al Hammadi urged all motorists to be "extra careful, follow road signs, and observe speed limits" for their own safety and that of other road users.

The move is in line with the ministry's strategy to adopt the latest international practices in terms of road projects to ensure high quality road networks, he said. "This will boost the transport sector across the country, and support our economic growth."
