VW's Skoda devoted to Czech Republic

(MENAFN) Volkswagen's Czech carmaker Skoda Auto emphasized its dedication to its country, saying it was setting up to add job opportunities there, but concerned about the possibility of losing some production to Germany.

In terms of operating margin, Skoda has become Volkswagen's second most profitable brand and is on target for record sales this year.

VW managers and unions were aiming to limit the competition from lower-cost Skoda and move some of its production to Germany.

Skoda's CEO said that in the latest months, Skoda has employed 3,000 workers and was planning to employ more "to be able to cover rising demand."

Skoda's Czech union has notified that any production change could lead to up to 2,000 lost jobs at Skoda.
