Qatar- Ban on closed door facilities at Shisha cafeterias sought

The Central Municipal Council (CMC) has discussed a proposal seeking ban on setting up closed door facility or separate places for families at Shisha serving cafeteria in a regular session yesterday.

The proposal was made by a CMC member, Abdullah bin Saed Al Sulaiti. 'Close door facilities will help to spread the phenomena of Shisha habits among big number of underage children specially girls, Al Sulaiti argued while presenting the proposal.

Al Sualiti said that the privacy securing places will encourage those users who would not join the harmful habit out of community pressure fearing to be detected in open places.

The member asked the Council to invite the representatives from the Authority Concerned to raise the issue directly or refer the proposal to the services committee in a bid to send a recommendation to them. The Council appreciated this anti-smoking proposal and after discussion the Council decided to refer the proposal to the legal committee for further study. Sheikha Al Jufairi, a CMC member, lauded the government for reducing the rent of logistic area at 50 percent.

The CMC had responded the demands of the investors for reducing the rent. The legal committee had studied the issue and the Council issued recommendation in supporting the demands.

The Council also discussed the report of the legal committee on drifting of cars and motorbikes at residential area causing disturbance to the people. The proposal was made by Sheikha Al Jufairi, a CMC member.

The Council also took up a proposal on creating awareness about law banning labor camps inside residential areas. CMC also noted the remarks of legal committee on the reply of the recommendation on a proposal banning men salesman at ladies garment shops and mail tailors at tailoring shops for ladies dresses. The proposal was made by Chairman of CMC, Mohamad bin Hammoud Al Shafi.
