Stopping on the yellow box has become very common and it is one of the most non-civilised violations as it hinders and disrupts traffic especially in the main intersections, Brigadier Mohamed Saad Al Kharji (pictured), Director of the General Directorate of Traffic said in a press statement on the sideline of the media forum.

The violators receive a text message after the violation and there is no need for the patrols to stop them, he added.

The General Directorate of Traffic has registered more than 400 violations over stopping at the yellow box in the last two months.

About overtaking from the right, he said such violations have decreased due to awareness.

Al Kharji also mentioned that the percentage of traffic deaths has decreased this year compared to the previous year, adding that the winter camping is considered among the hard season because traffic movements increase during this period, but also the traffic department has deployed more traffic patrols on roads which lead to winter camping sites and this is a positive thing.
