694,000 UK customers affected of Equifax data hack

(MENAFN) The credit reference agency has revealed that 694,000 customers in the UK had their information stolen between May and July 2017.

The company declared that it will contact its affected customers in the UK by letter; to offer them help and give free advice and ways to protect themselves from identity theft.

The data violation was part of an attack on the company's international customer records, wherein the personal details of 146m customers in the US and 8,000 in Canada, were stolen.

Although the company has denied last month that the stolen UK data had any addresses, passwords or financial info, it has now acknowledged that it did contain Equifax passwords, secret questions and answers, and partial credit card details.
