Qatar- Kahramaa launches 3rd phase of Tarsheed22

The Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation 'Kahramaa, representing the National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency 'Tarsheed launched the third phase of Tarsheed22 (T22) project; in cooperation with Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy.

It has been announced through the first induction meeting held at Kahramaa Awareness Park with the managers of 22 new independent schools selected by Ministry of Education & High Education to implement Tarsheed 22 in its third phase within the five stages until 2022.

The induction meeting aims at identifying the project as well as evaluation standards related to involved schools, where the competition contains three places for schools that achieve less electricity and water consumption. Best video contains a national awareness message related to reducing energy consumption, posted via social media platforms with the special hashtag of Tarsheed 22: #T22_2017 and #Tarsheed22_2017 and the school organised biggest number of visits to KAP for its students.

The school which designs and publishes highest number of paintings carry conservation message with a national theme. And Football match 22 for schools.

The third phase is a completion for the two previous stages, where 44 schools have been upgraded through replacing the non-conserving equipment with conserving tools. The schools will be provided annually by electricity and water with 3 GW/h, which will contribute in saving approximately QR750,000 per year as well as reducing carbon emissions by 1,600 tonnes per year.

The second phase of the programme included honoring the winning schools in Tarsheed 22 for the year 2016-2017. The winning schools succeeded in reducing the annual consumption rate of electricity and water, reducing carbon emissions via converting the roofs to be solar panels and using renewable energy.

Tarsheed 22 comes within projects and initiatives of the National Program for Conservation & Energy Efficiency launched under the patronage of the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

The programme has been launched in April 2015 by Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation 'Kahramaa represented in 'Tarsheed, in collaboration with Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy.

Every year, the program targets 22 new schools located in the areas where the 2022 World Cup stadiums will be established in order to educate students and teach them methods of conserving electricity and water for better living by utilizing the football power which is the world's first popular game.
