Etisalat Showcases Digital in Mobility at GITEX Technology Week

DUBAI, UAE 10 October 2017: Etisalat makes a major digital showcase in ‘Mobility' bringing autonomous transportation and connected car technology with M2M and IoT in the spotlight at GITEX Technology Week 2017.
This is in line with Etisalat's objective to highlight its role in ‘Dubai Autonomous Transportation Strategy' by bringing global leaders in autonomous transport to Dubai providing an insight into the future for all visitors at GITEX.
In the past two years at GITEX, Etisalat has successfully launched connected cars with global automobile manufacturers ‘Nissan' and ‘Toyota'. These cars are empowered by Etisalat's network, M2M, and IoT control center platform. This GITEX, Etisalat announced Tesla Model X with its connected platform empowering one of the first global electric car with its technology and network.
Another revolutionary showcase is the autonomous driving research vehicle Mercedes-Benz F 015 making its regional debut at Etisalat stand during GITEX Technology Week. Visitors will get an exclusive sneak peek into the future of mobility, which aims to transform the vehicle from a mode of transport to a comfortable mobile living space.
Etisalat also brings the global major Rinspeed Etos's concept car, another self-driving vehicle that makes a grand showcase on the stand and highlights the new world of automobile technologies.
Autonomous Transportation' was also a focus at GSMA's Mobile 360-MENA, a two day conference taking place on the sidelines of GITEX Technology Week, featuring keynotes, panel discussions and workshops highlighting senior executives and top leaders from the telecom industry. Smart Dubai, one of the key participants at the event have taken the lead in the country to bring this to a reality by working on strategic pillars that will help make this a reality.
Wesam Lootah, CEO, Smart Dubai Government highlighted at the event, he said: 'Digital mobility is an important element of our country's digital future, our strategy driven by RTA and the government aims to achieve 25 percent of autonomous transportation in Dubai by 2030, saving AED 22 billion in annual economic costs. This is enabled by four strategic pillars mainly open and share data, management of devices and IoT, digital identity and block chain. Device management is key to security and communication as people's lives and digital identity is at risk. Blockchain is also going to play an important role in autonomous transportation as there are billions of data exchanged and with Dubai government aiming to become the first blockchain-powered government by 2020 it's going to gain further relevance.
