(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Sayyid Dr Sultan bin Yarub al Busaidi, adviser for Health Affairs in the Ministry of Health (MoH) inaugurated the seventh edition of the Oman Health Exhibition and Conference at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre on Monday.

'Recognised as the flagship health and medical event in Oman, Oman Health Exhibition and Conference will once again make its mark in the healthcare scene as it brings in close to 200 exhibiting partners from 18 countries,' said Ahmad Sayed, exhibition director, Omanexpo.

This year's edition will also see the show's first-time association with Turkey as a country partner, which will offer healthcare and medical services from 20 leading health establishments, Sayed said.

'A noteworthy feature will be the India Health Plus pavilion, which will promote top medical consultants and specialists from more than 30 leading hospitals in India.'

Adding value to the exhibition are the national pavilions of Germany, Thailand and Iran, said Sayed. 'Germany, Thailand and Iran are now emerging as the preferred medical destinations for their world-class treatment and services—which will feature consultants and medical specialists representing over 30 hospitals.'

Concurrent to the exhibition is a three-day scientific conference, organised in conjunction with the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the Oman Medical Association. The conference will feature a notable lineup of highly acclaimed local and international speakers who will foreground issues, challenges and case studies in medicine, surgery, paediatrics, ENT/opthalmology, gynaecology, emergency and trauma.

Oman's healthcare sector is earmarked by the government as one of the priority and potential sectors for foreign direct investment under its Health Vision 2050. MoH is embarking on important health projects all over the country and is opening doors for new markets and investment opportunities in Oman. It has allocated US$3.4bn of its expenditure on the healthcare sector, which is seen to rise by 12.9 per cent a year until 2020.

The three-day exhibition is open from 11am to 8pm and the conference is from 9am to 3pm.
