Doha Girls Center, along with a number of girls' centres, launched on Sunday an awareness initiative aimed at Qatari girls to make them participate in the national renaissance as well as raise a generation of girls who are capable of serving the country while enhancing religious and moral values.

Held under the auspices of Minister of Culture and Sports H E Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali, the launch ceremony saw Dr. Issa Al Horr, Head of Youth Activities Department at the Ministry of Culture and Sports, reiterate the ministry's support for all meaningful initiatives, stressing that youth centres and girls centres have become incubators of talents and youth initiatives that help them become able to serve the country. He noted that such initiatives reflect the success of the ministry's strategy in promoting youth and girls.

Doha Girls Center Director, Houriya Al Ajamy, said the initiative came in response to the feedback of girls through a survey that the centre carried out. She called for addressing the issue of having extra free time for girls, noting that the initiative is ambitious and believes in the abilities of the Qatari girl to come out to the social sphere and contribute to the renaissance march.

She reaffirmed the initiative's social responsibility to achieve Qatar National Vision 2030 by providing programmes, support and ideas that achieve the goals of the initiative by cooperation between the different educational, youth and social institutions for girls to practice their constructive activities and programs.

Al Ajamy said the initiative aims to spread positive thought patterns and behaviour that stem from the authentic values and religious teachings so as to integrate with the results of the survey that reiterated the importance of work, time, knowledge and spreading awareness of the importance of respecting these values in terms of deepening the ties of tolerance, justice and social stability.
