Kurd to hold presidential vote on November

(MENAFN) As the Kurdish leadership reinforced its case for independence, Iraq's self-governing Kurdistan region plans to hold presidential and parliamentary elections on November 1, Rudaw TV said on Tuesday.

The referendum held on September 25 raised fears in Iraq and ethnic descents abroad that it might weaken the US-backed campaign against ISIS.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday, "Turkey would impose further sanctions on northern Iraq over the vote".

Neighbors like Ankara and Tehran fear it could fuel Kurdish independence within their own borders.
