South Brazilians must vote on secession

(MENAFN) The south Brazilian voters were asked if they want to be part of a new country, as the referendum was arranged a week after the Catalonian referendum, under a movement called "The South Is My Country."

According to the online newspaper "Redacao Bonde" Acacio Fernandes Tozzini said: "Our nation has reached a dramatic level of political disorder that is impossible to mend. We want to get rid of Brasilia; Brazil has reached the apex of corruption."

After Italy's Giuseppe Garibaldi helped the south of Brazil attain its partially-independence in 1836, it has been expressing secessionist tendencies ever since.

A similar vote last year organized by "The South Is My Country" had 617,500 votes, while Celso Deucher, the group leader, aspires to gather 3m votes.
