UAE Cultural Days to take place in Madrid on 16th October

FUJAIRAH, 8th October, 2017 (WAM) -- Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, the UAE Cultural Days will be launched in the Spanish capital, Madrid, from 16th to 18th October.

The event is being organised by the "Zayed's Ambassadors Initiative," in co-operation with the Casa Arabe, the El Retiro Public Library and the Complutense University of Madrid in Spain, under the theme, "UAE: The Bridge of Cultures."

The Emirati writer Khaled Al Dhanhani, Executive Director of the Zayed's Ambassadors Initiative, stated that the activities of the UAE Cultural Days in Madrid is highly important for promoting Emirati culture, as it aims to highlight the UAE's social conditions and immortalise the personality of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan and his principles and values globally. ''It also aims to spread the UAE's culture in Spain and introduce Emirati creativity while strengthening the cultural communication between the two countries,'' he added.

He pointed out that the event's programme will include many cultural and literary activities, such as poetry nights, literary seminars and cultural visits, which will be hosted in the halls and theatres of several Spanish cultural institutions, including the Casa Arabe, the El Retiro Public Library and the Complutense University of Madrid, where leading UAE cultured individuals and writers will participate in the event.

Al Dhanhani also highlighted the desire of the Zayed's Ambassadors Initiative, as part of its national duty, to organise activities and cultural summits in various Arab and international capitals, to introduce and spread the UAE's culture and heritage to people around the world, which positively reflects its society at local, regional and international levels.

Al Dhanhani lauded the ongoing support of Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad for the ongoing national initiatives and the country's creative talents, while praising the efforts of Spanish writer Maria Victoria Bernal, Head of the Ateneo de Madrid Organisation for Poetry and Literature, to hold the cultural event.
