87th Session of Directors of Arab Labor Organization Kicked off

The Egyptian Labor Minister Mohammed Saifan announced his country's concession to Iraq, represented by the Iraqi Minister of Labor, Mohammed Shiaa, to head the board of directors of the organization. Othman Sharif Al Rayes of Bahrain Businessmen was also selected as Vice President and Jibali Al Maraghi, Chairman of the Egyptian Workers Union, Vice President for Egyptian Workers.
The Minister of Labor and the Chairman of the Arab Labor Organization, Mohamed Shi'a, said in his speech during the meeting that the crucial challenges faced by the Arab countries require constructive cooperation in order to activate the productive forces and face unemployment and consolidate the principle of trade union freedoms, contrary to many other challenges facing the Arab nation. Support possible for the advancement of the Organization and the development of its work.
For his part, Fayez Al-Mutairi, Director-General of the Arab Labor Organization, said that the Palestinian issue is central to all Arab countries. He pointed out that he will present a report on the suffering of the workers and people of Palestine in the occupied Arab territories due to the Israeli occupation. He called on the international community to adopt measures that contribute to promote the economic situation of the Palestinian people.
Al-Mutairi pointed out that the Arab region is exposed to many variables that require the importance of social and developmental issues such as poverty and unemployment, empowerment of women and youth, and attention to vocational training and social dialogue, pointing out that the biggest challenge for the Arab nation is to achieve development in its broad sense.
For his part, Minister of Labor Mohamed Safan stressed the necessity of introducing some amendments to the Constitution of the International Labor Organization in order to cope with Arab and international changes and sending all proposed amendments to Member States for discussion and then sending them to the Committee of Experts for a report to be presented at the next General Conference.
It is noted that the agenda of the 87th session of the Arab Labor Organization (ALO) Governing Council includes follow-up to the decisions of the previous session of the Governing Council, the actions taken by the Organization to implement the decisions of the 44th Session of the Arab Labor Conference, As well as a report on the development of the work systems of the Arab Labor Organization, a report on the activities and achievements of the Organization between the sessions of the Council and a report on the work of the 100th Session of the Economic and Social Council.
