Qatar- Campaign to create awareness on seasonal influenza vaccination

The Ministry of Public Health in collaboration with Primary Health Care Corporation and Hamad Medical Corporation has launched the national campaign to raise awareness about seasonal influenza vaccination.
The Ministry of Public Health has advised all citizens and residents to ensure access to seasonal influenza vaccine for protection from the complications of seasonal flu.
The campaign has been launched in a number of universities and other public, private institutions. The vaccination is available to all citizens and residents of primary health care centers.
The employees of the Ministry of Public Health and health workers at Hamad Medical Corporation, Primary Health Care Corporation, Qatar Petroleum and Qatar Red Crescent have already been vaccinated under the campaign.
The campaign is part of the Ministry's efforts to improve the health of Qatar's population and provide them with the best means of preventing infectious diseases.
The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness in general public about the importance of vaccination against seasonal influenza with the onset of winter and to increase people's knowledge about the risks of influenza complications particularly among high-risk population groups.
The Ministry of Public Health represented by the Department of Health Protection and Communicable Disease Control seeks to increase vaccination coverage rates and it works and coordinates with all relevant authorities in the State of Qatar to achieve the goal.
The most recommended groups for influenza vaccination include: people with chronic diseases such as diabetes, asthma, heart and lung disease, kidney failure and immunodeficiency patients; as well as older persons (over the age of 60), children aged 6 months to 5 years, pregnant women and health workers.
