Jordan takes part in meetings of women committee of ESCWA


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Beirut, Oct. 4 (Petra) -- The 8th session of the meetings of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) kicked of Wednesday in Beirut, Lebanon with the participation of Jordan along other Arab countries.

Salma Nims secretary general of the Jordanian National Commission for Women, is leading Jordan's delegation to the meetings, which will review the activities for the woman development.

ESCWA Executive Secretary Mohamed Ali Alhakim said women have a clear presence in political participation and parliamentary elections and they succeeded in entering the parliaments in a number of Arab countries.

Lebanon's Minister of Women's Affairs Jean Ogasapian outlined Arab women sacrifices, mainly the Palestinian women within the family and society.
