Oman- Startup Grind hosts Louis Lebbos, founding member of AstroLabs

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Startup Oman (www.startupoman.om), the sultanate's only online platform created by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs and the designated chapter of Startup Grind in Oman, hosted Startup Grind on Wednesday.

Featured on Startup Grind's stage was Louis Lebbos, a founding member of AstroLabs. AstroLabs is the region's premier co-working space and learning academy for digital technology companies.

Their mission is to create a thriving technology ecosystem in the MENA region. Prior to his work with AstroLabs, Lebbos launched Namshi, an online fashion shopping website that grew to become the region's biggest fashion online shop and is still considering to be one of the SMEs in the MENA region. Louis's current work is aimed towards enabling entrepreneurs and helping them reach their full potential by mentoring them and providing them with the space, tools and coaching they need at AstroLabs.

Over 80 entrepreneurs, students and young professionals joined the event at Innovation Factory space in Knowledge Oasis to hear Lebbos's story to entrepreneurship.

He said, 'The biggest challenge we faced when we were scaling Namshi was hiring the right people. We constantly kept hiring the wrong people and learning through the process. The biggest lesson there is not to rush the hiring process.'
He added, 'We're very selective with the startups we accept. Becoming a part of our community is very important to us, and we look at the diversity of the startups present in our space. We have benefited immensely from having local startups work alongside global companies launching their offices in the Middle East.'

Startup Oman co-founder Ali Daud, said, 'We are thrilled to feature an experienced tech entrepreneur such as Louis on the Startup Grind stage. Louis's experience showcases how he translated the lessons learned through building Namshi to support the creation of many more startups and successful companies, such as Careem. He's succeeded in enabling the youth to start companies with minimal risk and great learning. We hope that his story will inspire Omani entrepreneurs to continue the development of the Omani ecosystem.'

Startup Grind (www.strartupgrind.com) is a global entrepreneurial community made up of 400,000 entrepreneurs in 200 cities and 85 countries around the world. Founded by Derek Anderson in Silicon Valley, Startup Grind educates, inspires and connects entrepreneurs.

Startup Grind was hosted by Innovation Factory as the event partner and Wadi Accelerator as the exclusive sponsor. Startup Oman's next event will be held on October 11 in Caribou Bareeq al Shatti at 6.30pm.
