Doha: A Port Market will be opened at the Ruwais Port soon, which will enable customers to buy a wide range of international products from commercial ships calling at the Ruwais Port.

The Port Market project, which is presently under construction, will be handed over to traders later this year, Mwani Qatar said in a tweet.

The market is part of the next phase of Ruwais Port development, which aims to establish the Port as the northern gateway to commercial trade in Qatar.

Ruwais Port is strategically located in the centre of the Arabian Gulf hence receives a wide range of commercial goods.

The second phase of the three phase port development, which is presently underway, includes the establishment of the regional commercial market. It is expected to serve the commercial needs of the northern side of Qatar.

Apart from contributing to the revival of economic activity in the northern regions of Qatar, the port also envisages to become a trading hub for goods from neighbouring countries.

The market at Ruwais Port will have all modern facilities like a lounge, cafeteria, rest rooms, office for supervisory bodies and also a mosque.

In the first phase the market will be established over an area of 6,700sqm. In the future expansion phase it will occupy an additional 3,200 sqm.
