CBSE makes Aadhaar mandatory for Classes 9, 11 exams

In a first, the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) has made Aadhaar number mandatory for the students of Classes 9 and 11 for the board exam registration from 2017-18.
It has notified all CBSE-affiliated schools, giving the details/rules for the registration.
Schools will have to register their candidates on CBSE's official website by submitting required supporting documents and subject details.

Details
The CBSE said students can provide their Aadhaar enrolment number for the registration process, in case Aadhaar number is not available.
It added candidates residing in states where Aadhaar enrolment isn't being done can provide their bank details in lieu of Aadhaar.
Foreign nationals must provide their passport number or the Social Security Number/ID Number issued by the country they are studying in.

CBSE stated: "All CBSE-affiliated schools should register themselves before proceeding for online submission. They can use the password and 'Affiliation Number' as user ID already available with them. Newly affiliated schools should contact the concerned Regional Office of the CBSE for obtaining password."
