40 shanties gutted in Nepal blaze


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) At least 40 shanties were destroyed in a massive fire that broke out at the squatter area in front of a fruit market in Kathmandu's Balkhu on Saturday night.
Police said that the fire started from an oil lamp and spread to other shanties.
As many as 15 liquefied petroleum gas cylinders blew up, razing down 40 shanties, according to local Shyam Das Pandey.
Three people were also reported injured in the incident and the belongings of all shanties were also completely reduced to ashes due to the fire.
The firefighting team of Nepal army mobilised five fire brigades to douse the massive fire.
