Inaugural GKEC round in Muscat


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The inaugural round of the first Gulf Karting Endurance Championship (GKEC) will be held at Muscat Speedway of the Oman Automobile Association (OAA) on October 13-14.

The four-round championship, organised jointly by OAA and Al Ain Raceway, will witness teams take part in two 12-hour races and two 24-hour races to be held in Muscat and Al Ain Raceway.

The details of the event was announced at a press launch held at the OAA headquarters on Saturday. Brigadier Jamal al Tai, the OAA vice-chairman, Guy Sheffield, club director of Al Ain Raceway, and Sulaiman al Rawahi, the managing director of OAA, were present on the occasion.

Schedule: Round One: October 13-14: 12-hour race, Muscat Speedway; Round Two: November 23-25: 24-hour race, Al Ain Raceway; Round Three: February 1-3, 2018: 24-hour race, Muscat Speedway; Round Four: March 16-17: 12-hour race, Al Ain Raceway.
