Kuwait- KUNA, MENA sign supplementary agreement on cooperation


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Oct 1 (KUNA) -- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) and Middle East News Agency (MENA) signed a supplementary agreement on Sunday on boosting cooperation in using modern technology and publishing photo features.

This came during a meeting between KUNA Board Chairman and Director General and President of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) Sheikh Mubarak Duaij Al-Ibrahim Al-Sabah and MENA's Board Chairman and Chief Editor Ali Hassan at KUNA's headquarters.

The agreement includes publishing joint photo features that cover political, economic and cultural developments in Kuwait and Egypt. It also focuses on sharing experience through organizing training courses, while also benefitting from one another's news bulletin and information archives.

Meanwhile, the two sides stressed on the importance of unifying the efforts and work of Arab agencies to face different vital issues and challenges in the region.

On his part, Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij affirmed the need of cooperation between Arab agencies to unify their stance against terrorism topics and stand in the face of media coverage, aiming to destroy the image of Arabs and Muslims.

In the same context, Hassan hailed the democracy process in Kuwait and the level of journalism freedom in the country. He also spoke of Kuwait's continuous publishing of books and reports rich with vital information for the Arab World, The four-day visit of MENA delegation to KUNA commenced last Friday, aiming to boost cooperation between the two agencies in all media fields.

The meeting was attended by KUNA's Deputy Director for Administrative, Financial and Communications Affairs Abdulhamid Malak and other senior KUNA and MENA officials. (end) fa.sss.ag
