China's manufacturing sector expanded


(MENAFN) China's manufacturing sector witnessed and expansion in September at the fastest rate in over than five years.

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said Saturday that the manufacturing purchasing managers' index (PMI) for this month came in at 52.4, up from 51.7 in August and 51.4 in July, above 50 reading is a sign of expansion, while one below reflects reduction.

The reading marked the highest level since May 2012, due to staying in positive territory for a 14th straight month.

NBS statistician Zhao Qinghe said, "The indicator showed a stable upward trend in the manufacturing sector".
