Jordan- Sheep exports to Gulf countries increase by 75% in September


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Sept.30 (Petra) -- Jordan's exports of head sheep to Arab Gulf markets recorded a major spike in September 2017, surging by 75 per cent, an official source at the Ministry of Agriculture said on Saturday.

The Agriculture Ministry's assistant secretary general for marketing and information,Salah Tarawneh, said in a statement that the country exported over 36,000 head of sheep to the Arab Gulf market this September , compared to 21,000 head of sheep in the same month last year, Tarawneh said.

The volume of Jordan's sheep exports during the first nine months of this year increased by 14 per cent compared to last year, he said, adding that the ministry is doing its utmost to increase the exports of live sheep to support cattle breeders and livestock sector in the country.
