(MENAFN- The Conversation) Dr Melinee Kazarian is Lecturer in Law within Southampton Law School at the University of Southampton.
She holds a PhD in law and wrote her thesis on 'The role of the criminal law and the criminal process in healthcare malpractice in France and England.' She has extensive research experience in healthcare law and criminal law issues, as well as comparative and French law. She has been involved in different research projects including an AHRC-funded project entitled 'The Impact of the Criminal Process on Health Care Ethics and Practice', led by Professor Margaret Brazier, which aimed to offer a comprehensive analysis of the role of the criminal justice system in regulating health care practice and ethics in the UK.
Her research interests are in medico-legal, criminal and comparative law issues, in particular the question of the criminalisation of negligence in the common law and civil law traditions. She has published papers on recent medico-legal debates, focusing on a comparative analysis of French and English criminal responses to healthcare scandals, and has presented papers at numerous international conferences. She is currently writing a book on the criminalization of medical malpractice in France and England. She is often called upon to be a guest reviewer for leading journals and publishers in law.
