MEC, USQBC sign letter of intent to boost cooperation


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The US-Qatar Business Council (USQBC) on Wednesday signed a letter of intent with Qatar's Ministry of Economy and Commerce, which is aimed at increasing bilateral investments and further cooperation between the two friendly countries.
The letter of intent was signed during a ceremony held at the University Club in New York City and attended by HE the Minister of Economy & Commerce, Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani, and USQBC managing director Mohamed Barakat.
USQBC is the premier vehicle for enhancing bilateral commerce between the United States and the State of Qatar.
The letter of intent serves to achieve certain goals set forth between the two entities including, but not limited to, enhancing and expanding the role of the USQBC, increasing investments in the United States and Qatar, providing assistance to companies engaging in trade and investment between the United States and Qatar, supporting the private sector in Qatar, as well as increasing US and Qatari membership with USQBC.
This agreement brings together two organisations that fundamentally share the same goal of enhancing the private sector in Qatar and enhancing trade between the US and Qatar.
'This agreement formalises our efforts not just to preserve, but to power and grow, our bilateral business relationship and we are grateful to have the deep support of His Excellency the Minister and the entire Ministry of Economy & Commerce, Barakat said on the occasion of the signing.
In addition to working with the Ministry of Economy & Commerce in Qatar, USQBC works closely with Qatar's embassy in Washington, DC.
USQBC in a release yesterday appreciated 'the support of both the Ministry and the Embassy of the State of Qatar.
