Get ready for football, get ready for LaLiga


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) People of all cultures living in Doha were present at the LaLiga Lounge on its official opening ceremony at the Hotel Park on Wednesday evening. They enjoyed every bit of the ceremony and facilities offered by the lounge, which is the first of its kind in the world.
The official opening was scheduled for 6:15pm but the visitors remained in the lounge enjoying the facilities till well into the night. The enthusiasm shown by both hosts and the visitors was visible, with the space full of colours, music and energy.
'This is going to be a very different and informal kind of place to dine at. The variety of food and various fun opportunities will work as magnet. More and more young people are expected here as it a place to chill out and spend some time, said A K Vijay, an Indian expatriate living in Doha.
'As they say, it is first of its kind in the world. That will also attract people. It is right that there is no other restaurant in Doha with such kind of fun and entertainment, he noted.
Tammer, an Egyptian businessman, said, 'LaLiga is a very famous football league in Spain. The football lovers know it very well. The restaurant at Sheraton has been opened in collaboration with the league. It is big for residents of Qatar as they are also looking up to 2022 FIFA world cup here.
'It is also said that they would be telecasting all LaLiga League matches live on big screens already set up in the restaurant. That is going to be fun to dine and watch football here. It is going to be heaven for football enthusiasts in the coming days.
Talking to the media just before the opening, Saeid Heidari, general manager of Sheraton Grand Doha, said, 'We are thrilled to have world's first ever Laliga Lounge in Doha in association with the Spanish league.
'It is going to be a family place. We have kid corners in the lounge. We have a small football play filed for kids. Many people visit Sheraton. Moms can come to the restaurant with kids and hang out for some time. They could have their dinner as their children keep playing.
He added, 'We have capacity of about 250 people. Big TV screens have already been installed to run different items and football matches. When the season is on, we will show live matches of LaLiga Spanish League.
'We have a very beautiful open area for the restaurant. When the weather become better, we will have outdoor seats for families. We have plans to install a big TV screen in the outside area to show all League matches live for visitors. I believe that people are going to have a lot of fun at the restaurant.
Heidari said, 'Right now we are offering only dinners. Once the weather is better, we will start lunch and breakfast at LaLiga Lounge. We have a very professional chef. He is a magician. He is good looking and prepares very tasty food. We have different menus for different age groups. We have special menus for kids as well.
About his target group, the GM said, 'We welcome all sorts of visitors. But we expect more and more youth. We are going to target school children as it is going to be a fun place to come to.
Speaking about future plans for the lounge, Heidari said, 'We also intend to bring coaches from LaLiga League to Doha. In better weather we plan to have outdoor football matches. We are also going to invite coaches and players from the League. They will look out for the talent. Perhaps some players from Qatar may be playing for the League in future.
Opening the lounge as chief guest, Spanish ambassador Ignacio Escobar said that bringing in LaLiga League to Doha at this time is very significant. Qatar is going to host FIFA World Cup in 2022 and the League has already brought the game to Qatar, he said.
