Jordan- FM, Chinese counterpart discuss ties, region

Beijing, Sept. 27 (Petra)--Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi met separately in Beijing with Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi and Foreign minister Wang Yi and discussed with them Jordanian-Chinese ties and means to further strengthen them.

Safadi reviewed with the Chinese state councilor the latest developments in the region, and briefed him on efforts exerted by Jordan under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, to enhance security and stability in the Middle East.

The minister conveyed congratulations of His Majesty King Abdullah II to Chinese President Xi Jinping on the occasion of China's national day as well as his wishes of progress and prosperity to the Chinese people.

The Chinese state councilor praised the ties of friendship between Jordan and China as well as keenness to further boost cooperation with Jordan.

He also conveyed the greetings of the Chinese president to His Majesty the King and said China is interested in further developing its relations with Jordan.

During a meeting at the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Safadi and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi pointed to the continued cooperation and coordination between in the political, economic and cultural fields.

The two ministers stressed the need to translate into reality the joint statement on establishing a strategic partnership that was signed during His Majesty's visit to China through increasing economic, trade and investment cooperation.

They also highlighted the importance of the meeting that will be held by the joint committee on technical, economic and trade cooperation in Amman next month that will pave the way for implementing projects between the two countries.

Safadi also reviewed with the Chinese minister efforts to solve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the Syria crisis and the war on terrorism.

He thanked the Chinese minister on his country's support to solving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the basis of the two-state solution.

The two ministers affirmed the importance of reaching a political solution to the Syrian crisis that preserves the unity of the country.

They also agreed to continue coordination and consultations on mechanism of cooperation that has been growing progressively.

Safadi is visiting China in response to an official invitation by his Chinese counterpart on the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
