Qatar- MedFood 2017 expo a huge success

The Minister of Municipality and Environment, H E Mohamed bin Abdullah Al Rumaihi, visited the first edition of MedFood 2017 exhibition which concluded yesterday.
The exhibition was organised by Qatar Chamber in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Industry. The minister has taken a tour inside the exhibition and was briefed about the food and pharmaceutical products for about 34 companies which participated in the exhibition.
A number of exhibitors stressed that the exhibition has succeeded in achieving its goals. It gave a chance to companies to display their products and communicate with new suppliers. It is the first specialised exhibition in food and medicine after the siege was imposed on Qatar by the three GCC countries.
Director-General of Qatar Chamber, Saleh bin Hamad Al Sharqi, said that the chamber was keen to invite owners of commercial complexes to know about the local products and build relations with Qatari companies.
This will strength local products and will help to increase local production of food and medicine. He hopes that the exhibition will contribute to increasing awareness in the society about local products and the need to give priority to it.
The companies, which have participated in the expo, stressed that it will increase its products in order to meet the demand. 'What marked the exhibition this year is the participation of only products of local companies, he said. The event aimed to offer a platform for food and medicine companies to display their products and to exchange expertise.
It was also a chance to see the private sector initiatives to achieve medicine and food security and also enhance the slogan 'made in Qatar.
