Tourism week starts in Baku

A Tourism Week timed to the World Tourism Dayhas started in Baku.

The project launched on September25 aims at encouraging the young people's interestinthe traditional art of carpet weaving, and preservation of historical monuments and cultural heritage.

Excursionsto the historical sites will be organized for children of the shelter"Ümid Yeri", Trend Life reported.

Tours will be held to the Gala State HistoryandEthnography Reserve on September 26.

The children will acquaint with country's history in theNationalHistory Museum onSeptember 27. Tours to Azerbaijan Carpet Museum will be organized on September 28.

Tourism Week will end with the tour to the Heydar Aliyev Center, one ofthe symbols of modern Baku on September 29.

Various exhibitions, round tables are also organized as part of event.

Many people around celebrate the United Nations' (UN) World Tourism Day- September 27. The day aims to foster awareness among the international community of the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic values.
