UAE's first nuclear reactor to be operational by 2018

(MENAFN) The UAE's first nuclear reactor will be operational by the coming year with the operating firm getting a license in 2018.

Furthermore, the Barakah plant will have a capacity of 5.600MW of elect, with four 1400MW reactors.

The country was forced to postpone the launch by a year as the firm set up to run it had not yet received an operating license to confirm sufficient time for global assessments.

In addition, the first reactor at Barakah is 96 percent complete and is in the final stages of commissioning.
