US immigration policy may slow medical research


(MENAFN) U.S. immigration restrictions may slow the progress of medical research, some doctors argue.

Generally, around 18 percent of medical professors in the U.S. had graduated of foreign medical schools.

Foreign medical graduates make up nearly a quarter of the physician workforce in the U.S. and disproportionately practice in undeserved areas.

As already promised in his election campaign, Trump issued an executive order barring entry for people from several Muslim nations.
