Qatar team reach bowling semis
(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar advanced to the semi-finals of the men's Team of Four bowling event at the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, yesterday.
The quartet of Jassim Mohamed al-Muraikhi, Saoud Ahmad Abdulla, Yousef Abdulrahman al-Jabir and Ghanim Mohamed Aboujassoum amassed 2474 were sixth in Block 1 of the competition, which was topped by Indonesia with a total of 2619.
Al-Muraikhi had a total of 696 pins leading the way for Qatar in Block 1, with Korea's Choi Bokeum topping the individual total charts with 707 pins.
In Block 2, the Qatari quartet improved to fourth spot with a total of 5111, while the Koreans topped the block collecting 5443 pins.
The two teams will now face off today in the semi-finals with al-Muraikhi leading Bokeum in individual scores by a pin at 1448.
In the other semi-final, Indonesia will meet Chinese Taipei in the semi-finals.
Koreans topped the women's Team of Four competition too.
In the men's Rapid Team chess event, Qatar will play Iran in Round 5 today. Qatar are sixth in the standings with 5 points, having won two of their ties — against Maldives and Philippines — and drawn one, against Kazakhstan.
