Ankara refuses to welcome new entity

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ANKARA, Sept 24 (KUNA) -- Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim announced on Sunday that his country would not welcome a new entity on its southern border, and has described the referendum of separation of Iraq's Kurdistan as illegal. At a meeting with the Justice and Development Party, Yildirim said in a speech that the administration of the region is to be responsible for the consequences of the referendum scheduled for Monday.

He added that the problems existing in the Kurdistan regional government will not be solved by this referendum, and that the outcome will instead be an increase of chaos and instability.

He also stressed that Turkey will continue to aid those who are suffering from terrorist groups such as the so-called Islamic State and the Kurdistan Worker's Party, and that his country will hold those who insist to have this referendum accountable for its results. In a similar speech made in central Turkey, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag called for the cancellation of the referendum, warning that it would cause a disaster. (end) rs.sm
