Graziella Caprarelli


(MENAFN- The Conversation) Graziella Caprarelli graduated in Geological Sciences Summa cum Laude in 1986, before defending her Doctoral degree (PhD) in Earth Sciences from the University "La Sapienza" (Rome, Italy) in 1991. She held two post-doctoral fellowships in Japan and in 1994 moved to Australia. She has been an Academic member of the Faculty of Science at the University of Technology, Sydney from 1996 to 2013, and in 2014 took her current post as Inaugural Associate Professor in Space Science at the University of South Australia. She held a NRC Fellowship at NASA Johnson Space Centre (Houston, TX) in 2001-2002. Her service to the professional community include her role as Deputy Chair of the National Committee for Space Science of the Australian Academy of Science (until 2013), and her present seat on the National Committee for Space and Radio Science. She is a long standing member of the American Geophysical Union, serving also on the Macelwane Medal Committee since 2013. She is Associate Editor of the Australian Journal of Earth Sciences in the field of planetary geosciences. Her published research is summarised in her Google Scholar public profile, and spans the fields of terrestrial and Martian geological processes, as well as contributions on the applications of geostatistics to environmental science and parasitology.
