Oman- NLCP's module 1 begins at University of Oxford

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- On Sunday, the National Leadership and Competitiveness Program (NLCP) participants started the first module of their learning journey.

The module, delivered in partnership with the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, took place in the state-of-the-art learning facilities in Oxford, UK with 35 leaders from the Oman public sector.

The national programme's team is delighted to be partnering with the University of Oxford, which has just been ranked the number one university in 2018's World University Rankings (Times Higher Education) and is one of the oldest and most respected academic institutions in the world.

The first module is designed to broaden participant perspectives about the international and regional trends and their impact on the Sultanate of Oman as well as its economy now and into the future. This then catalysed the conversation around national competitiveness and the key developments upon which Oman should focus to improve the 'ease of doing business' with the country.

The learning was supported both by case examples of governments facing similar challenges and their responses as well as by discovery visits to UK government entities and initiatives in order to understand better how public-private partnership works in the UK.
The first module also plays an important personal development role for the government participants – they were introduced to the coaching process and to their leadership coaches.

The NLCP participants will work with their coaches throughout the course of the learning journey.

A secondary but fundamental benefit of the module was to start the process of building cross-government ministry networks and close leader relationships.

Finally, the module introduced the Project Application process, designed and delivered by one of the best-reputed professional services firms, PwC.

The first module was delivered and facilitated by the world-class faculty (both practitioners and academics) from the Business School and senior partners from PwC.
