(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- On Saturday, September 30, Oman will host the first edition of the express design competition Roca One Day Design Challenge.
It is a competition organised by Roca, a world reference in the creation of bathroom spaces, aimed at students and young professionals of the design and architecture sectors under the age of 30. The participants will face the challenge of creating original solutions and innovative concepts related to the bathroom space in one single day.
The day will start at 9am with the welcoming of all the participants and reading the briefing of the concept to be designed. From that moment and until 5pm, the participants will work on their proposals. Once the projects have been handed in and after the jury has made its decision, they will take part in the award ceremony and then a dinner.
The jury is made up by Anthony Coyle, Dip. Arch (Mack); Nadia Maqbool, director, Architect RIBA ARB; Maryam al Balushi, architect/proposal manager at F & M Middle East Engineering Consultancy LLC; and Xavier Torras, brand communication manager of Roca.
They will value the creativity, sustainability and innovation of the received proposals. The ideal opportunity to prove the ability to work against the clock. The speed challenge will allow these young designers to develop their creativity and gain visibility at the early stages of their careers.
A first, second and third award will be handed over, valued at RO600, RO400 and RO200 respectively. In addition, the We Are Water Foundation will present an additional RO200 award to the project that significantly represents the value of sustainability. Loyal to its commitment to innovation and design, Roca organises this competition with the aim of supporting young people at the early stages of their careers. For this reason, Roca started the internationalisation of the Roca One Day Design Challenge in 2015, with the goal of providing them with a platform to develop their creativity and to offer them the experience of connecting with the professional world.
The Roca One Day Design Challenge celebrates its sixth edition in Spain, an event that is always attended by a large number of participants. The competition, which takes place simultaneously at the Roca Galleries in Madrid and Barcelona, will be held on October 7.
