Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani returned to Doha on Sunday evening after delivering a historic speech at the opening session of the 72nd UN General Assembly.
The Emir was welcomed on arrival at the Doha International Airport by the Deputy Emir H H Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani, HE Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Thani, HE Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the Personal Representative of the Emir H H Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani, HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al-Thani, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al-Thani and HE Sheikh Jassim bin Khalifa Al-Thani.
The Emir was also welcomed by the Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Speaker of the Advisory Council H E Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khulaifi, a number of Their Excellencies sons of HH the Father Emir, Sheikhs and Ministers, HE the Deputy Speaker of the Advisory Council, members of the Advisory Council, and a number of dignitaries.

A large number of Qatari and expat families with children gathered at the Corniche to show their solidarity and welcome the Emir. Many were spotted wearing their national costume and waving Qatari flag.
The motorcade of Emir travelled from the airport along Corniche all the way to the Sheraton Park.

The Emir was seen waving to the people who thronged the road in the thousands singing praises about Qatar and Emir.
The official vehicles carrying Emir and other dignitaries moved very slowly so that everyone had a glimpse of their beloved leader and had a chance to take a photo or video.
The Emir stopped the motorcade many times to greet the enthusiastic crowd who were overjoyed to witness their leader from such close quarters. Once, he was seen getting down from the car to greet a man in a wheelchair.
The ecstatic crowd, including young children holding flags and Tamim Al Majd pictures embossed on their dresses, were seen following the parade for some distance.

The huge public reception at Corniche was a spontaneous decision by citizens and residents on social media after hashtags # (Qatar Welcomes Emir) and # (Magrib prayer at Corniche on Sunday) went viral. People started pouring in from afternoon along with families at Corniche and the whole stretch was crowded, giving a festive feel to the evening.
The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani had visited Turkey, Germany and France before heading to New York to deliver a comprehensive speech about the Gulf Crisis and how some neighbouring countries are seeking to destabilise a sovereign state by imposing unjust blockade.
He also met with the US President Donald Trump while in New York.
Emir was able to impress upon the world community about the steps Qatar has taken for peace in the region and also the humanitarian steps by Qatar in many conflict areas.
The residents said that the speech has made entire Qatar proud. The people lauded the fact that the Emir raised the issues of Arab, Palestinian and persecuted people of Myanmar calling the international community to bring about immediate solutions for them.
