GAM to Increase Traffic Cams in Amman 33 New Installations Soon

AMMAN —AlGhad— The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) is aiming to increase the number of traffic cameras in the Capital to 70 soon enough, with 30 new cameras to be installed soon, according joint services department director, Eng Mohammad Faouri today, Saturday.

The Municipality just finished installing 19 new cameras across different parts of the city, Eng Faouri confirmed to AlGhad, and they will soon be operational, he said.

Meanwhile, citizens feel that these cameras are 'nothing but another way to collect more money out of their pockets.

When faced with this contention, Faouri denied and said that 'the cameras have been a factor in the declining rates of dangerous car accidents, which have dropped by 22 per cent in first eight months of the year [2017].
