Turkish Pres. heads two meetings on Kurdistan referendum


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ANKARA, Sept 22 (KUNA) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will head two separate meetings on Friday to discuss the Kurdish Regional Government's (KRG) plans to hold a referendum.

The two meetings will also discuss internal and external developments and Kurdish vote, which is scheduled to be held on September 25, according to Turkish Anadolu News Agency.

President Erdogan earlier said that the meeting would discuss sturdy sanctions against Kurdistan region for holding a referendum on withdrawal from Iraq.

Meanwhile, the Turkish parliament will hold an emergency session on Saturday to discuss extending the mandate of a government resolution authorizing Turkish forces to launch military operations in Syria and Iraq.(end) rs.hs
