Foreign ministers of S. Korea, Japan assure coordination on N. Korea


(MENAFN) During a meeting in New York Friday, S. Korea, Japan foreign ministers affirmed their close coordination on the issue of North Korea's nuclear weapons program.

South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha and her Japanese counterpart, Taro Kono, met on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly to discuss the growing threat posed by North Korea's nuclear and missile programs as well as bilateral issues.

The ministers "shared the understanding that in terms of the response to North Korea's nuclear and missile problem, close coordination between South Korea and Japan, as well as between South Korea, the U.S. and Japan, is important," the ministry said.
