(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Rabat – Paris paid tribute Wednesday to the French-Moroccan photographer , who tragically died in a , Burkina Faso early 2016.
An exhibition hall named after the late photographer was set up in the city on September 20 during organized by the Institute of the Arab World (IMA) and the House of Photography (MEP).
"This is the first time that a young artist photographer has had her name permanently registered in the history of a city hall of the French capital," said the mayor of the 4th arrondissement of Paris, Christophe Girard, adding that the late Alaoui was "a citizen of the world who really had her place here."
Jack Lang, the president of the IMA, affirmed that the opening was an emotional moment which would inscribe the name of Alaoui in memory of Paris, particularly since her work is "very powerful, which will be discovered by all the visitors who will come to the town hall."

Mehdi Qotbi, the president of the National Museum Foundation, said that, through the inauguration of the hall, the city of Paris will remember the memory of the exceptional photographer, adding that "all Moroccan artists" felt honored by this homage.
The 33-year-old photographer, who was severely wounded and passed away from her injuries, had previously exhibited her portraits of Moroccans in the first biennial the year before.
Opened on September 13, the Second Biennial of Photography of the Contemporary Arab World explores the photographic talents of the Arab world.
