US State Department Grants USD 1.6 Million to 13 Moroccan Associations

(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Rabat – The United States Department of State has allocated USD 1.6 million to 13 Moroccan associations out of a total of 100 proposals through the US-Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI).

MEPI chose the 13 Moroccan associations and organizations according to "criteria of support and influence," said the Regional Director of MEPI, Manu Bhalla, during the signing ceremony on Wednesday in Rabat.

The selected associations work on humanitarian projects, including the creation of employment opportunities for people with disabilities and former prisoners as well as initiatives to promote entrepreneurship.

The fund is intended to strengthen Moroccan-American relations, enable Moroccan youth to get more involved in the development of their country, and create "leaders of tomorrow," said Stephanie Miley, the Chargé d'Affaires of the United States Embassy in Morocco.
