The Minister of Economy and Commerce H E Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani yesterday met with US Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross to discuss as aspects of the joint cooperation in the economic, trade and investment fields and means of developing them
A statement issued by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce said that during the meeting which took place on the sidelines of the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly, the two sides also the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and held consultations on entering into trade and investment agreements between the two countries.
It is noteworthy that the volume of trade exchange between the State of Qatar and the United States amounted to about QR19.2 billion in 2016, equivalent to $ 5.26 billion. The US is the sixth trading partner by 16.5% of the total trade exchange of Qatar.
The value of Qatari exports to the United States in 2016 amounted to QR2.5 billion , equivalent to $ 685 million, while the value of imports in the same year was about QR16.7 billion , equivalent to $ 4.6 billion .
The number of the US companies operating in the State of Qatar with 100% ownership registered in the Ministry of Economy and Trade reached 102 companies.
