By Mehdi Sepahvand –- Trend:

Three gas platforms at Iran's South Pars will be installed by the end of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 20, 2018).

These three are part of 10 offshore gas platforms being built by Iran Marine Industrial Company (SADRA), the Iranian Oil Ministry's SHANA news agency reported September 20.

Director of project control at Pars Oil and Gas Company Hessamodin Amiri has said that the platforms will be installed at phases 13, 14 and 22-24 of the offshore gas field.

According to Amiri, by the end of the Iranian year at least one topside of the platforms will be ready for delivery to its offshore spot.

Nevertheless, he said, the onshore utility facilities of phases 13 and 22-24 will come online by that time.

South Pars is part of a huge offshore field, shared with Qatar in the Persian Gulf. The field is estimated to hold about 8 percent of the world's natural gas reserves.

Iran shares the gas field with Qatar in Persian Gulf waters.

Iran plans to complete the South Pars phases (except for Phase 11) in two years. Iran will increase gas output from South Pars to 630 mcmpd by March.
