Peza official to address food security summit


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Philippine Economic Zone Authority (Peza) director general Charito Plaza will be coming to Doha for the third time this year to address the Qatar Philippine Food Security Summit (QPFSS) scheduled on September 25, it was announced.
The event, organised by the Management Solutions Consultancy, will gather Qatari food importers and Philippine food producers and exporters aimed at highlighting the agro-industry sector's huge potential to achieve food security.
Peza consultant and special adviser to the director general for Middle East (ME) and Northern Europe Joseph Timothy Rivera said that Plaza will meet owners of Qatari companies who are now in the process of site surveying and registration stages after signing investment pledges to the Philippines during President Rodrigo Roa Duterte's recent state visit to Qatar.
Companies such as the GBS-Black Leaf Consortium, having the largest investment plight are mostly into retirement village ecozone development, tourism, construction, IT and ecozone services sectors, has a combined investment pledge of around $200,000,000.
Qatar remains to be the operations hub of Peza in the ME and has been very active in promoting Philippine investments in the region.
Philippine Business Council Qatar president Greg Loayon, also a special adviser for the director general for ME and Central Europe, will also brief Plaza on the developments of hospital co-operatives and some financial institutions who are also investing in Philippine Economic Zones.
Plaza will meet new potential Peza locators who are scheduled to sign new letters of intent for their investment pledges in the fields of wellness, garments and food processing.
