Special exhibition by VCUarts Qatar opens

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar (VCUarts Qatar) has opened a special exhibition dubbed as ‘20/20/20' at its gallery to mark its 20th anniversary in the country.
Curated by VCUarts Qatar's alumni Maryam Yousuf al-Homaid and Ahmad Oustwani, the exhibition, which runs until October 21, will showcase the work of 20 designers from all programmes, demonstrating how it prepares its alumni.
'Our alumni show reflects the intellectual and creative ambiance of two decades at VCUarts Qatar and how our collective contributions to art and design has had a major impact on our students, Qatar and surrounding regions, VCUarts Qatar dean Dr Akel I Kahera said.
Kahera noted that the exhibition is also an excellent way to discover the outstanding works of a new generation of art and design talent in Qatar.
Al-Homaid is an interdisciplinary designer holding a BFA in graphic design and a Masters in Design Studies from VCUarts Qatar. She is currently an assistant professor in the graphic design department.
Oustwani, alumni relations co-ordinator at VCUarts Qatar, holds a BFA in graphic design with an art history minor from the same university and currently completing a master of science in student affairs in higher education from the Colorado State University.
The exhibition identity design is created by VCUarts Qatar alumnus Moza Khalifa al-Suwaidi (Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design, 2013), who is also a graphic designer at the Office of Communications.
The exhibition will be open to public free-of-charge from Saturday to Thursday (9am to 5pm) and will feature a jazz band.
