Kuwait- Boyfriend, woman hearing adjourned in disabled girl's killing

(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY, Sept 21: A detention renewal judge ordered the extension of detention of a Kuwaiti man and woman who are accused of killing the woman's five-year old daughter. The judge will review their case again on October 4, reports Al-Anba daily.

The trial triggered shockwaves as the victim suffered from auditory processing disorder (APD). The defendants attended the court session but denied the charges. The case dates back to last August when the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received a call from the mother who said her daughter was lying unconscious inside their house in Al-Qosur area and that she had tried unsuccessfully to wake her up.

When securitymen and paramedics were dispatched to the location, they discovered that the little girl was dead and had bruises and burns on her body, which made securitymen and paramedics suspicious about the mother's side of the story concerning the death of her daughter.

They arrested her and questioned her. She confessed that her boyfriend had visited them the previous day and he had tortured the child by sticking lit cigarette stubs on her body. He then beat her severely until she became unconscious. The mother gave securitymen details about her boyfriend including the address of his residence in Salwa area from where he was arrested
