Kuwait- Aid shipment to Rohingyas disturbed by Buddhist mob in West Myanmar


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 21 (KUNA) -- Hundreds of Rakhine Buddhists have attempted to destroy a ship carrying aid for displaced people in western Rakhine state, Myanmar government said on Thursday.

The government's media office said the riot began when about 50 people forced staff of the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) to unload the aid from a ship at a jetty in Rakhien state capital Sittway late Wednesday.

It said eight people have been detained for interrogation after police dispersed a crowd comprising around 300 people by firing warning shots and water cannons.(end).
