Salvation Army Kroc Center Presents Kids Free October

(MENAFNEditorial) SAN DIEGO, Sept. 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- All month long local children are invited to come out and enjoy different activities at The Salvation Army Kroc Center for free in October. Tiny Tikes welcomes children and parents alike to participate in recreational and art activities. After-school Swim is a program that encourages children to become comfortable in the water in the 86-88 degree recreation pool. The Climbing Tower is another favorite on campus, tucked away on the recreation field, which has six tracks of varying difficulty.

"We think it is important to give back to the community and allow for families to enjoy some of our different programs for free," said Major Rick Peacock. "Not everyone has the means for extra-curricular activities but that doesn't mean every child deserves to have fun."

  • Free Ice Skating is a unique offering happening on October 11 at 10:30am for children under the age of 8.
  • Family Read & Play Day is a monthly free event for children 5 and under to encourage their love of reading with a free book; this month on October 17 at 10:30am the book is "The Monster Who Lost His Mean" by Tiffany Strelitz Haber & Kirstie Edmunds.
  • Kroc Fit Kids, on October 17 at 6:00pm, is a program that highlights the benefits of a healthy lifestyle – this month rock climbing and a healthy snack.
